Thanks to your new video recipes  we have been able to make a new donation

Image As you already know, Cookshow is committed to donate a fixed amount of €10 ($14) for each recipe video uploaded to the Cookshow site. Last December, Cookshow formed a strategic partnership with Project Concern International to make on-going contributions to a nutritional and educational program for children in Ethiopia.

The first donation was made in October 2007 for a total of 260€, corresponding to the first 26 video recipes. This donation was made to a French Humanitarian organization which refused to have its name associated with Cookshow.

We therefore found another organization whose concern was more to help children suffering from malnutrition rather than to care for its image. We signed a partnership with Project Concern in January. In February, we made a first donation of €1840 ($2700) corresponding to the 184 video recipes received.

A new donation of €1300 ($ 2000) has just been made for the Ethiopian program.

The total donation up-to-date covers the first 340 video recipes put on line. If you have uploaded a recipe on Cookshow, you contributed to providing a proper nutrition and education to Ethiopian orphans, who may have not been able to survive otherwise.

On behalf of all these children, we thank you and encourage you to continue creating your cooking show to help them !

Cookshow.com Announces Strategic Partnership for Corporate Giving with Project Concern

Press release

PARIS, France - December 10, 2007-- Cookshow.com, the first 100% video-sharing community exclusively on the niche of cooking, announced today that it has formed a strategic partnership with the corporate giving program of Project Concern International (www.projectconcern.org). Cookshow will donate a fixed amount of €10 euros ($14) for each recipe video uploaded to the cookshow.com site. Founded just two months ago, the first donation will already amount to €1240 ($1800).

“One of our priorities is to help the fight against malnutrition. We have committed to make on-going contributions to Project Concern International for two programs in Ethiopia: BELONG which provides critical services to orphans and vulnerable children and BREEDLOVE which provides supplementary nutrition support to children under 12 years of age who are HIV infected,” say Jacques Petit and Gilles Piedoye, co-founders, Cookshow.com. “We selected Project Concern International as a charity with which we wanted to work with for the long-term because of their focus on ending hunger for children.”

With over 45 years of experience, Project Concern International is a leading international health organization that saves the lives of children and families around the world by preventing disease and providing access to clean water and nutritious food. The organization reaches over three million people a year with programs in Africa, Central and South America, Asia and the United States. Specifically, Project Concern International is addressing large-scale issues like world hunger and malnutrition by working with communities to distribute food through school feeding and agricultural assistance programs. In particular, we target those most vulnerable to malnutrition - infants and young children - through nutrition counseling and breastfeeding promotion, growth monitoring, and the championing of positive models of optimal nutrition within the local community.

“We are excited about Cookshow.com’s interest in supporting our Africa nutrition programs. We look forward to a long-term partnership between our two organizations,” says Uli Heine, Director of Development, Project Concern International. “We seriously believe that the fight against malnutrition is a main part of changing the lives of children and families in the developing world forever and giving children a chance to attend school and become productive members of society. We are delighted that the founders of Cookshow.com want to join us in this fight.”

The founders of cookshow.com believe that the web’s powerful access to knowledge and the freedom it brings is a way to help those less fortunate. The site will provide a monthly update on contribution impact around the world.

Dear Chefs,

Cookshow is committed to helping those most in need and this thanks to you. We will give 10 euros to one or several charities each time a recipe is filmed and put onto our website.

Why this commitment ?
Cookshow is a communitarian website with one strong value: sharing. The team wishes for this value to be an integral part of all that we do and in all our external relationships.  This is why we wanted to support a charity from the very start. We have created a motivating system whereby everyone can get involved and take action without giving money. The idea is simple: For every recipe filmed and put online, Cookshow will send a fixed amount of money to a charity. The entire team agreed in principle but the amount per video and charity chosen remained to be defined.

The difficulties encountered.
International charities are extremely protective of their image and most often wish to manage a partnership. In the past one well-known charity has refused to partner with us due to the fact that our website is too recent.  We’ve still chosen to continue sending money to them on a monthly basis. The charity in question has requested that we do not to publisize this on our website.  However, how do we communicate to you internautes that funds are being sent each month thanks to your recipe videos without divulging the name of the charity and how these funds are being used? Where’s the credibility when we cannot be transparent?  Mid-September we contacted another charity which, likewise, refused.  We had apparently communicated too early and the doors are now closed.
It doesn’t matter there are plenty of charities out there.

The future

Cookshow will SHARE as it’s in our genes.  We want to be a solidarity company. These minor hurdles will not rock our determination.  We hereby, confirm that for every video recipe put online, 10 euros will be paid to a charity.  Our priority is child malnutrition.  We will continue looking for one or several partnerships with charities and will keep you informed as we go along. The meter which is shown on the tab indicates the number of videos online.  Multiply by 10 and you can easily count the amount which will be paid.So far our first two donations take into account the 44 first recipes.

The whole team thanks you.

Dear Cookshow chefs,

Cookshow wishes to lend a helping hand and has chosen to help in combating malnutrition in children.

So, for every video put online, Cookshow.com makes a donation help reduce child malnutrition. During our first two months of July and August 44 recipes were put online by different members. Thanks to you, Cookshow has already made 2 donations to a charity. The money has funded the purchase of nourishing protein rich foodstuffs to help treat children victims of severe malnutrition.

We want to have an action as efficient as possible. That why we are actually in negociation to sign a partnership with a famous charity. That's the only way to make sure that the totality of the funds reaches these children. And all this, thanks to your recipes!

During the negociation with the charity all recipes that are put online continue to be accounted for, so as to reach an annual global amount rather than sending donations on a monthly basis. Once the discussions are over, whether we reach a partnership or not, we will, nonetheless continue making donations to them or to another charity. Naturally, you will be informed.

Thanks for having faith in us and we look forward to getting back to you soon with excellent news.

The Cookshow team
