Ingredients for BEANS TEMPURA :
1 big bunch green beans trimmed
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
1 cup ice water
Peanut oil for frying
Dipping sauce
2 T soya sauce
1 T mirin
2 T dry white wine, sake, or rice vinegar
Exécution :
BEANS TEMPURA instructions :
1. Trim green bean tips
2. Mix all other ingredients (except oil) until smooth
3. Heat deep fryer to 374˚F
4. Dip a small handful of beans into batter to coat. Batter will be light like pancake batter. Fry for 40 seconds. It's now beans tempura !
5. Let beans tempura drain for a few seconds on a paper towel before moving to serving plate.
6. If desired lightly salt the beans tempura
7. Mix dipping ingredients together and serve alongside beans tempura in a bowl
